Wayne Meissner


Mr. Meissner is a native of Victoria, Texas, and received his law degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1967. During more than three years in criminal prosecution of misdemeanor and felony cases, Mr. Meissner served as Assistant City Attorney, Assistant District Attorney and First Assistant County Attorney in Amarillo as well as in Austin, Texas. In April, 1971, Meissner joined the Austin law firm of Minton, Burton and Fitzgerald and became a partner that same year, focusing his practice on the defense of criminal matters in state and federal courts. In 1981, Bill Fitzgerald and Mr. Meissner formed their present firm.

In addition to his trial practice, Meissner has represented numerous clients' matters to resolution, with state and federal prosecutors, involving traditional murder, sexual assault, robbery, burglary, family violence, alcohol, drug and weapons related issues. He has resolved numerous clients' matters in state and federal regulatory and grand jury investigations involving anti-trust, bank and savings & loan, insurance, environmental, government procurement, motor fuels, securities, health care, tax, political and campaign finance and election fraud issues. As a member of the National and Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Director of the Austin Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Criminal Justice White Collar Crime Committee and Health Law Sections of the American Bar Association, he is a frequent lecturer before legal, civic and school groups on constitutional rights and criminal procedure and is an experienced white collar practitioner.
